Due to the additional credit requirements to obtain certain STEM degrees, some Veterans may find that they are unable to complete their degree within the life of their GI Bill.


Benefit

The Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship can assist Veterans obtain:

  • Undergraduate degree;

  • Teaching certificate; or

  • A training program for health care professionals.

By providing Veterans with up to an additional 9 months of Post 9/11 GI Bill or up to $30,000 of tuition and fees (whichever occurs first).

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • The scholarship CANNOT be used to obtain a graduate level degree!

Teaching Certificate

You MUST meet all of the following criteria:

  • You have already obtained an approved* undergraduate STEM degree; and

  • You have been accepted or have enrolled into a teaching certification program; and

  • You have 6 months OR LESS remaining of your Post 9/11 GI Bill.

A Training Program for Health Care Professionals

You MUST meet all of the following criteria:

  • You have already obtained an approved* undergraduate STEM degree; and

  • You have been accepted or are enrolled in a covered** clinical training program for health care professionals; and

  • You have 6 months OR LESS remaining of your Post 9/11 GI Bill.

**means any clinical training required by a health care professional to be licensed to practice in a State or locality

Eligibility

Depending what you are trying to use the scholarship for, the eligibility requirements change ever so slightly.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • You may NOT use this scholarship if it would put you in excess of 48 months of combined VA education benefits!


Undergraduate STEM Degree

You MUST meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are currently enrolled in an approved* undergraduate STEM degree that requires at least 120 semester credit hours or 180 quarter credit hours; and

  • You have at least 60 credits toward obtaining your degree; and

  • You have 6 months OR LESS remaining of your Post 9/11 GI Bill.
